WHAT I BELIEVE

WHO IS JESUS ?

Oh, the delightful mystery of it all!

A man, who is God! Thus, willing and able to satisfy cosmic imbalance and inherent hostility in the unseen realm by manifesting Himself in our earth reality. Needing to die and to recover from the ordeal. Needing to come back to Life, forever overturning the death sentence inherited by humanity.

For love.
For family.
A Hero.

WHO ARE WE?


We are so precious and so treasured.

So worth the cosmic fight!​


We are human beings created for intimacy and relationship.
Made in the image of God, we are His imagers but not perfect in nature nor essence.
As human beings, we are both subject to weakness and to foolishness.
As human beings, we sin.
We are also capable of great things.
Our value and worth however, are not credited to our account based on accomplishments nor the lack thereof.
We are valuable just because we are.

We are ever invited to acknowledge our need and our desperate hunger for Love and to find rest in the character, person and redemptive plans of our Heavenly Father. 
While we were yet sinners, Jesus died for us.
The inherent sin nature of humanity has been taken care through His sacrifice on the cross.

Now, on with our quest.
To follow the Light in the window.
To find our way home.
To leave a trail of breadcrumbs behind.
To Love as we have been loved.
To welcome all who are finding their way to the City on the hill.

OUR JOB DESCRIPTION

Simply put, our task is to believe.

To believe that Jesus is who He says He is and did what He did on our behalf completely unbeknownst to us is our task.
​​Not only did Jesus reinstate cosmic order after the great heist but He overturned the effects of angelic rebellion by His stealthy death and resurrection.
Executed to perfection, Jesus made humanity eternally fit for Sacred Space with His blood sacrifice.
​How we choose to respond to this incredulously good news, we have a lifetime to contemplate and to execute.
​Responding with our believing loyalty and our love is a worthy offering.
We can leave the striving to live a perfect life to please God at the door with our shoes. That is not what is required. 
Jesus paid the bill.

​As with any gift received, our response of appreciation reflects our understanding of the heart of the Giver and reflects our sincerity and depth.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

​
Reality is truly out of this world!​

With the cosmic rebellion, came influence. The fallen Watchers were intentional in their craftiness and schemes. Their deliberate effort to influence humanity in teaching it to destroy itself are expounded upon in the Book of Enoch. While this book from antiquity is not considered Canonical, it definitely helps to fill in some details with regards to cosmology and lore about fallen angels. These clues when paired with the study of scripture can help us better orient ourselves with regards to injustice, cruelty and systemic harm.
Keeping ourselves in the know, puts us in a better position to parse the enigma and to better defend and protect ourselves.
Better understanding the game, makes us better players.
The Holy Spirit is a gift to us and a direct facilitator of all things helpful as we welcome and engage the partnership in our day to day. ​
We are not alone in our struggle with antagonist forces in the unseen realm.
We have a Spirit who knows all about it and will lead and guide us through it all.

OUR RESPONSIBILITY AS WORSHIPERS

Not only do we worship with our Spirit which is eternal,
but we also worship by embracing the Truth found in Jesus Christ.

Truth is our anchor and our sail.​

I believe that striving for a progressive and ongoing revelation of Truth is essential. Amazingly, Truth is alive. Relentlessly, It chisels away at both our preconceived and conceived ideas pertaining to life, seeking ultimately to shape our core values, refine our identity and really, to bring us on board with the spiritual world that exists apart from ourselves and our permission. The colour of our worldview is most often influenced by chronistic cultural norms and presentation. Truth is in fact anachronistic and timeless.
As we choose to agree with its bold and transcendent claims, Truth then, has the capacity to enlighten our worship and thus to usher us into ever deeper places of adoration and alignment. Truth will permeate our conscious narrative and directly influence our subsequent cognitive and emotional experience.
We are changed as we behold Truth and are awed, humbled, and inspired by it.​

THE BIBLE

The Bible holds keys for us and is a type of map. It can be studied and cross referenced with many other biblical writings found through history. Multitudes of scholars over the millennia have dedicated their lives to its study. As a result, thankfully, we don't have to reinvent the wheel in our own deep dives as we endeavour to better understand it. Studying the bible in context is essential and it is so helpful to have resources to help.

The bible is not a science book and was never intended to be. To look for answers that are simply not in the text is a quest in attempting to major in the minors and can be an exhaustive waste of time.

FAVORITE BIBLICAL SCHOLAR

My biblical scholar and author of choice is the late
Dr. Micheal S. Heiser.

I have learned and continue to learn so much from listening to his Naked Bible Podcast.
The hundreds of episodes I've listened to, starting from the very beginning, cover both fascinating and foundational biblical content.

A famous Heiser maxim:
"If it's weird, it's probably important"

I have also had the opportunity to hear from many guest scholars on the podcast who also share their work.

FUN FACT

The original historical name Jesus is Yeshua.
It is an ancient Hebrew and Aramaic name
that means salvation or deliverance!
The actual longer form Hebrew name is  Yehoshua, Joshua!
